Spend just a few minutes talking to Jesse Nemitz, you can’t help but get a bit of a buzz from the natural creative energy he exudes. Get him to talk about teaching or ask him to indulge in a little piano pyrotechnics, and you will instantly see that child prodigy come to life in full struts and swaggers.
The 24-year old remembers playing piano by ear in between big-brown headphone sessions where he would listen to his grandfather’s performances from the Stage Door Lounge at the Opryland Hotel.
But the Brett Manning Associate never practiced singing as a child. In fact he would not sing a note except when he was performing.
“I would show-off by singing Elvis songs,” he smiled. “I liked to sing Hound Dog.”
Jesse continued to master his performance skills on the keys by using the Suzuki Method, an approach that encourages those who naturally play by ear to keep those instincts intact as they learn to read music.
“But I still can’t quite read up to speed,” he said. But if you see Jesse play, it doesn’t matter.
As for his singing voice, he is the first to admit it has been a long, hard journey. That is until he came upon Brett Manning’s program back in 2003.
“Nothing was working before that,” he said. “I knew what I wanted to do musically, but I couldn’t do it physically. Nothing out there addressed that with the exception of Brett’s program.”
Jesse said that a friend told him about the program and how well it worked and that he should make an investment in buying it. He was blown away at the difference in his voice after just three months of following the program. He later took 10 lessons with Brett live for a period of six months.
“I literally started from scratch, with tone, resonance, vibrato, lyrical quality” he said. “There was no worse singer than me. I had poor tone, no compression. I was totally out of control. I understand this process. I can break it down and help singers work with it. It’s fun. It’s exciting. I can relate to my students because I’ve been there.”
You can hear the proof for yourself by listening to Jesse’s incredible before and after results on the Singing Success website, as he sings You Raise Me Up. It’s a phenomenal witness to Brett Manning’s unique gift as the ultimate voice teacher and vocal coach.
Originally from the Nashville area, Jesse had been living with his family in Indiana between 1999 and 2007. The day after he moved to Nashville he was offered a position as a video editor for Singing Success where he worked three days a week.
In just a few weeks, he began to take on more responsibility. This led to a December 2007 launch of the first version of Singing Success Online. By July 2008 he was promoted to CEO of Singing Success.
In one year’s time he led the company in developing two new versions of Singingsuccess.com, two site revisions to Singing Success Online, as well as pulling together BrettManningStudios.com. Singing Success Facebook, Twitter, three online blogs, and a full online singing news platform are all new in the past year. Jesse also helped facilitate Brett’s vision with the Top 7 DVD/CD series, the Singing Success Studios franchise, a launch of Jamie Wigginton’s Pro Singers Warm-Up, ArtistMakeover.com (TBA), SingingSuccess.tv (TBA) and Keep the Arts in Schools, LLC (TBA).
He is also responsible for kicking off the YouTube presence for Singing Success in 2007, with the first video uploaded now having logged 1.2 million views.
In September of 2007 he became one of the first official Brett Manning Associates taking on students at Brett Manning Studios. After having two of the busiest years of his life, he is now taking on the role of full-time coach, a role that is a true passion for him.
“I definitely desire to spend more time with my students. The band has also needed more and more attention as time goes on,” he said. “I love Brett and Singing Success with all of my heart and have enjoyed the opportunity Brett provided me to cut my teeth as a young company leader.
On Jesse’s philosophy of teaching, “I truly believe anybody can learn to sing. That’s what makes what we teach so unique. We have real answers for the tough questions that plague singers. Typically, these are questions left unanswered by less complete methods. The possibilities are endless.”
Jesse is also an artist, singing lead and hammering the keys for his Nashville-based space-rock band, 16th State. The working artist aspect is one more perk that Jesse brings to the studio as a teacher.
Jesse says that Brett Manning and Singing Success are the final nail in the coffin for teachers and programs that claim you can’t sing unless you were born to sing. He’s had students gain five full notes in full voice after one lesson and students sing an octave higher in full voice after a few months. He’s even helped a 50-year old singer find her inner 16-year old rock singer!
“She sounded like a church opera singer when she came in, but now she sings right alongside the likes of Katy Perry or Avril Lavigne.
If you’re frustrated, Jesse is the one you want for your coach.
“Those who are frustrated usually have the best first lessons because they’re hungry for something that works,” he said. “They’ve tried everything and they are ready for the key that unlocks the door to vocal training success
