Anatomy of the Vocal Cords
Chest, Head, Falsetto, & Whistle Register
Your vocal cords are designed to execute different coordinations to accommodate the different registers. When you sing in chest, for example, your cords are at the longest and thickest position.
As you ascend, your cords should "zip-up", making the vibrating surface shorter and thinner. That is how the high-notes are accessed. Not by stretching, straining, or pushing the chest voice. Learn more about Vocal Registers in the SInging Success program.
Understanding the
Vocal Resonators
Before the sound formed by your vocal cords reaches the ears of your audience, it is transformed and amplified by the spaces above your larynx - namely, the pharynx (throat), the mouth, and the sinuses (nasal cavities). These three areas that make up your vocal tract form a resonant trinity with each space favoring certain frequencies. Because the shape of your resonance system is unique, your voice is different from that of anyone else. Learn more about Vocal Resonators in the SInging Success program.

How Is Singing Success
Different Than Other Methods
With this vocal technique, you will dramatically improve your vocal range (high and low), be more consistent, confident, and stylistically versatile.
- It is based on fact, not tradition!
- It is not based on subjective imagery or unusual mouth and body positions!
- It promotes individuality and artistic expression!
- Singers get results in weeks, not years. While vocal study is a lifetime pursuit, most singers notice dramatic improvements right away!
Learn How To Sing With Style
Does your voice seem bland and unexciting and are you dying to breathe life into it?
Having coached countless, Grammy-award winners, Country Music Award winners, Gospel Music Award winners, Broadway stars, classical singers, and having sung in virtually every style myself (I have an extensive listening library), I have developed a methodology that intertwines all musical styles. The Singing Success method finds the common elements that make singers great while pointing out the distinctive elements that make each stylistic genre great. The Singing Success method gives the singer the tools needed to be a commercially viable singer.
Mariah Carey, Brian McKnight, Usher, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston… just a few names synonymous with vocal style, licks, trills and runs. On American Idol, X-Factor and other shows, the judges suddenly perk up when a singer transforms a straight-forward, tasteful interpretation of the melody into an explosive release of melodic embellishments. Embellishments include singing simple major, minor blues scales, mystical harmonic minor scales, simple, pop music trills, classical trills, and runs resembling long, jazz trumpet improvisations.
The Singing Success method has the techniques that make these embellishments compelling, allowing you to sing in any style. When your voice is “technically” freed up, it can allow for flows of emotional release. The secret is note delineation. When we show you how simple it is, you will be shocked… and the results are even more surprising!
Learn How To Sing Without Straining
Do you ever feel you have to push to sing your high notes?
There are two groups of musculature used to make sound: the inner and outer muscles of the larynx. Using the wrong muscles causes serious strain and prevents the vocal chords from vibrating freely. The Singing Success method will show you how to isolate the correct muscles and disengage the incorrect muscles in the singing process. It takes very little thinking on your part: some of the exercises are as simple as letting your voice be groggy like it naturally is when you wake up in the morning. Many children intuitively do these exercises, which is why a baby can scream for hours and never lose his voice. The Singing Success method will show you how to sing for hours and never lose your voice.
The most effective way to sing without straining your voice is to use proper vocal techniques. With the right voice training you can learn how to sing high notes without straining or damaging your voice. Learning to sing high notes is a developed skill that can be achieved using the right voice exercises.
Learn How To Sing Longer With More Endurance
Does your voice get tired after only a half hour of singing?
A relaxed voice allows singers to fully enjoy singing. The Singing Success method sets the singer free to use less musculature to accomplish more singing, a critical key to endurance. Endurance is achieved when the singer uses the correct muscles for the task. Our singers have experienced the ability to sing three or four times longer than normal and with no pain. One singer even said "Interesting, my throat doesn't hurt." A sure sign of wrong singing has always been that the muscles on the outside of the larynx (not the vocal cords themselves) begin to ache after a short practice session. You will discover that most of the strength you were using wasn't necessary.
Many "Brett Manning Certified" vocal coaches, who teach the Singing Success method, have found themselves singing seven or eight hours a day then heading off to a vocal performance after a long day of vocalizing, feeling fresh. This can be you! The singing lessons contained in the Singing Success program are designed to help improve the your vocal endurance.
Learn How To Sing & Increase Your Range
Do you need another ocatve?
No matter your language, nationality, or style, Singing Success is the breakthrough method that effectively increases your vocal range. Sold in over 100 countries, Singing Success extends your range with its simple, signature exercises that even a 4-year-old can do. Not only does extending your range make singing easier, but extending your range also allows you the vocal flexibility to successfully utilize a wider selection of musical genres. It has been proven that broad-range singers experience greater vocal freedom. In fact, Singing Success’s results are dramatic, often increasing the vocal range of many singers a full octave or more.
To learn how to increase vocal range, you must first develop the right vocal coordination’s which allow you to sing in your higher voice register – head voice and a developed mixed voice. To achieve this you must build a proper foundation using the right vocal technique which does not improperly engage and strain the muscles which cause your voice to strain and break up.
Learn How To Sing with Perfect Pitch & Control
Ever heard a sloppy singer?
Pitch accuracy is not merely hitting the correct notes. It is being able to respond to the sound of a Major or minor chord and sing the notes within it accurately without “scooping up” or “sliding” into the desired note. The greatest singers have always been the ones who possessed some magical quality about their voices yet manifested something simple and easily grasped: control. While these control exercises are super simple, the results are not. In fact, you will immediately notice another level once you begin. With Singing Success' signature exercises, you will experience a voice that is under your command. When you have control you have confidence, and that kind of confidence separates the amateur from the pro.
Having the ability to sing on pitch is an essential step to learning how to sing well. If you want other people to be able to enjoy listening to your singing voice, there’s just no way around it; You HAVE TO be able to sing on pitch!
Learn How To Sing With More Power
Did you know that the sensation of running fast is the same sensation of vocal power?
When compared to driving, vocal power is less like pressing on the gas and more like letting off the brakes. The problem with many of us is that we "brake” or lose all sensation when we attempt to sing with power which resists freedom in our upper range. The Singing Success method shows you how to find agreement with your head, chest, and pharyngeal resonators. You will learn that the voice is “self-powered”, meaning that gravity takes over and allows your voice to fall into your power. It is not uncommon to hear singers triple their volume in less than one month... sometimes within the first hour! The Singing Success method helps to remove the wrong musculature that prevents the vocal freedom and power you've been looking for.
Learn How To Sing With Better Tone
Have you ever noticed that your voice sounds different on a recording than you thought it would?
Over the last 25 years I've seen singers walk out of the recording studio disappointed in their tonal quality. When singers are educated in the science and art of making sound, they begin to discern 'friendly' or 'radio-friendly' tonal quality. Improving tone erases unnecessary tension, manages vibrato, and balances head, chest, and pharyngeal qualities which are all only possible once the singer can distinguish individual and blended sounds. Singing Success singers constantly tell us that peers and audiences rave about their phenomenal tone quality. We also receive countless Before & After samples of their breakthroughs. We can't wait to hear your Singing Success story. The sooner you begin, the sooner you will grow into a complete a singer.
